Manor Farm talk Haiti with new Haven Ambassador Alan Quinlan

Manor Farm dates back to 1775 and is the largest chicken processor in Ireland and have partnered with Haven since 2015 helping local Haitian families build sustainable livelihoods. This month Prior Communications developed a photocall with Manor Farm CEO, Ado Carton and new Haven ambassador, Alan Quinlan, at Sean King’s farm in Cavan, to celebrate Manor Farm’s upcoming trip to Haiti for the second year running.

On 7th September, 22 volunteers will travel to Haiti, from both Manor Farm Ireland and from the company’s Scandinavian Plc Scandi Standard, to help build additional chicken coops with charity partner Haven.

Including this year, Manor Farm have raised over €300,000 for Haven charity and following this trip, they will have helped to build almost 40 chicken coops in Haiti. This commitment has also made a significant contribution to local community projects in education and clean water access.

Speaking about the charity partnership, Ado Carton, CEO of Manor Farm, said:

“We are delighted to have a team of volunteers travelling to Haiti this month from Manor Farm Ireland and our Norwegian and Danish colleagues in Scandi Standard. The partnership with Haven has been a personal commitment from Manor Farm since 2015. As a business with a long Irish heritage, we support a number of charities in Ireland and partnering with Haven, has allowed us to broaden our CSR commitment, share our values and expertise, and help educate families in Haiti to build strong and sustainable livelihoods. We at Manor Farm hope we can make a difference by supporting Haitian families in education and sustainability by building additional chicken coops and supporting local infrastructure”.

Alan Quinlan, Former Professional Rugby Player for Ireland, and newly appointed Haven Ambassador said:

“I am privileged to become an ambassador for Haven, and I’m proud of the great work that they do. Poverty and lack of sustainability in people’s lives is an important issue in Haiti and Manor Farm’s continued support of Haven is truly inspiring. As a new Haven ambassador, I am looking forward to travelling to Haiti next year with Haven and Manor Farm and aspire to help make a difference to one of the most vulnerable countries in the world”.

Since 2015, Manor Farm has been a member of Origin Green, Ireland’s food and drink sustainability programme which ensures farms and food manufacturing businesses throughout Ireland make measurable commitments to producing sustainably. Manor Farm is committed to social sustainability both in Ireland and overseas and will continue to build on the partnerships with Haven charity and Origin Green as part of its company-wide CSR strategy.

Throughout September, Manor Farm launched their Bringing Hope to Haiti on-pack promotion in retail trade and independent butchers, where a 10c per pack donation will be made to their charity partner Haven. The on-pack promotion will be featured on Manor Farm fresh chicken products.
